Note from SLT Andre Davies, Navigator on RNZN HMNZS Pukaki: HNMZS Pukaki is in Nelson for a break from her patrolling, as well as for commemorations of ANZAC day.
Six members of her ship company joined the morning service in Takaka, after attending the dawn service
in Nelson.
PUKAKI's home port is Nelson and she is affiliated with the entire Tasman/Marlborough region.
She 's is one of the Navy's new Lake Class vessels, designed for inshore patrol of NZ's coastline. 55m long
and a core ships company of 24, with 12 additional persons onboard. She has been conducting multi agency work
with the ministry of fisheries and customs around the West coast North Is and the Nelson region.
"To be able to spend time in the grass roots Tasman townships is a real privilege for Pukaki,
and the hospitality is most welcoming and open."
